Spirulina-Iron - True blood brothers

Apart from the seven minerals that are populating the human organism to a great extent, there are also trace elements. Trace elements are also minerals but they occur in tiny amounts or traces in the human organism. Still, they can accomplish tremendous feats.

Iron is the trace element most dominantly represented in the human body. For obvious reasons: as a constituent of the red blood cells or, to be precise of haemoglobin (red blood pigment), its major function is to transport needed oxygen to the 70 billion body cells. But let's start at the beginning ...

Would you take a moment and just take a real deep breath? Are you really aware of what was happening at that very moment in your body? 35 thousand million red blood cells with about 300 thousand million haemoglobin molecules each were rushing to your lungs, where they "picked up" the oxygen your lungs inhaled and transported it to about 70 billion cells. Haemoglobin molecules (globin and heme) thus are not only responsible for the pigmentation of the blood but rather for supplying all the body cells and tissues with oxygen. The transport of needed oxygen to maintain basic life functions would not be possible without haemoglobin.

Still, your red blood cells accomplish more yet: haemoglobin not only transports the needed oxygen to the cells and tissues but it also transports the used oxygen (carbon dioxide) from the cells and tissues. The trace element of iron plays a critical role in this process because it is a constituent of haemoglobin. The human organism cannot produce haemoglobin without iron. Thus, iron and red blood cells are truly "blood brothers" – figuratively and literally.

Our "Spirulina + Iron" product is a source of pure vegetable iron – exclusively made by Mother Nature. Up to now, wholemeal grains were the number one source for iron, yet certain acids and polymers of wholemeal grain tend to limit the bioavailability of iron. The same applies to spinach – its oxalic acid can limit the bioavailability of iron. Spirulina, on the other hand, is alkaline and will promote the absorption of iron. The human organism also needs vitamin B 12 and potassium to optimally utilise the iron. Spirulina fits the bill: it is the plant richest in vitamin B 12 and known to be an excellent source of potassium. One soft pressed caplet contains 2.25 mg of organically bound iron and 400 mg of Spirulina platensis.

Athletes have been well aware of the importance of their level of haemoglobin for their performance. Lance Armstrong or Jan Ulrich would not even consider competing in the Tour de France with low haemoglobin levels. They would run out of breath on the first stage of climbing the Pyrenees Mountains at the latest. The haemoglobin level, however, is just as important to the performance of "brain athletes". You see, it really doesn't matter to haemoglobin whether it transports the oxygen to your muscle tissues or brain – a fact that can be readily observed in every day life.

We recommend taking 2 soft pressed capsules daily.
